Oakridge Real Estate – Homes and Condos For Sale

If you looked at Oakridge from the air you would see one big rectangle.  Bordered on the west by trendy Granville Street and on the east by Main Street, there is a cultural diversity here that outshines many other Vancouver neighborhoods. Those with a craving for ethnic foods can find sushi, Chinese and Indian cuisine, sometimes on the same block. The northern border is West 41st Ave and to the south is West 57th Ave.

Oakridge was one of the last areas in Vancouver to be developed. It wasn’t until after World War II that the wooded area started to be replaced by mostly single family homes. After the Oakridge Centre mall opened in 1959 the population exploded. Within the last decade, some of those single family bungalows have been replaced by condo and apartment complexes. More development is on the way.

Oakridge is also home to the Langara Golf Course, which predates much of the construction, and Langara College, home to the Studio 58 live theatre. Neighborhood schools include Dr. Annie B Jamieson Elementary, J.W. Sexsmith Community Elementary and Sir Winston Churchill Secondary.
