Dunbar Real Estate – Homes and Condos For Sale

Dunbar-Southlands is on the western end of Vancouver, reaching from English Bay to the Fraser River. It is a multi-use neighborhood, made up of commercial venues as well as mostly single family homes. The Southlands part of that neighborhood is more on the rural side, filled with large estates with elegant mansions and expansive horse farms. The Musqueam Indian Reserve is also in this area.

Though First Nations peoples have lived in the area for centuries, the first Europeans arrived in 1863. Homesteaders built farms, and then in the early 1900s a subdivision was created. Many of the early homes still stand, with 21 of them on the city’s historic homes registry.

The area is known for its large lots with expansive gardens and trees so old that their branches often span entire streets. The area is home to eight public parks, including the iconic Pacific Spirit Regional Park and its many hiking trails. The neighborhood features the Southlands Riding Club, circa 1943, and an assortment of golf courses that have hosted national and international events.
